Josie Kuhn has travelled the road and lives the life of a musician around the world, but her heart always leads her back to New Mexico. Josie has spent her early years in the Santa Fe Hills, where she began writing songs and singing. These years still reflect today in her songwriting and melodies which is a combination of (alt) country, americana, tex-mex and bluesy sounds. Her first visit to Nashville landed her a deal with Combine Music (the Outlaw Music Comp) and later with MCA, where she wrote and recorded with producer Jerry Crutchfield. During her career she toured and shared the stage with artists such as Jerry Jeff Walker, Steve Forbert, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, the Mavericks and Emmylou Harris.
All Josie's CD's received great critical acclaim and they all got highly rated in various publications, especially in the UK. Nice to mention is that her second album "Walk with Lions" is produced by Steve Forbert and her third CD "La Luna Loca" features the great guitarist Albert Lee on 8 songs. Her latest CD "Zihuatanejo"(zee-wha-ta-nay-ho) is called after the beautiful small fishing village on the southern Pacific coast in Mexico.
During her European tour Josie will be accompanied by her Canadian Two Hawks Band. Ian Boelens on guitar and backing vocals and Ed Simpson-Baikie on bass and backing vocals. They are a perfect support to Josie's rare combination of sheer talent, sensitive and often witty lyrics, huge heart and professionalism, which makes her one of the most powerful female performers on the current alternative music scene.
After a severe accident a few years ago, which almost took her life, Josie has been taking up performing again. This April she will come to Europe and play some gigs in The Netherlands.
